I've never been too far away from the water. I was born into a military family in 1959 on the island of Bermuda. We moved shortly after to the Point Lookout area on the Potomac River. They say if you let a kid get in the water, they'll never leave it. Well, in my case it's true! As early as 1970, I was climbing on the local fishing boats, helping mates clean up from the daily excursions. At that time there was alot of bottom fishing for spot, perch, and trout as well as some trolling for big bluefish and rockfish. I took a four-year tour of duty in the Navy as Boatswain's Mate aboard a guided missile cruiser in Norfolk but found out that life just wasn't for me. In 1985 I received my captain's license from the Coast Guard and ran a number of boats in the area until I started my own business. |
